Recently at work I was listening to Charli XCX when a customer came in and proclaimed "All hail our lord and savior Charli”. Instantly, I was drawn to this customer for recognizing greatness. We got to chatting and she mentioned that I would probably like her music if I was a big fan of Charli. She told me her name - Madison Rose - and to give her a listen. I asked which of her songs would be the best introduction to her and she confidently responded that the gays are eating up her new (at the time) track Thunder. When I tell you - this may have been the quickest I’ve ever become obsessed with a song. It took all of ten seconds for me to decide I needed to listen to this song on a loop for an hour.
Because of how drawn I was to Thunder, I naturally had to give her album Technicolor: The Full Spectrum a listen. As the record played, every song that followed was better than the last. This album perfectly encapsulated what pop music is meant to be - fun, dancey, and so infectious that it doesn’t leave your brain for weeks. This album made me feel something that I hadn’t felt since some of the great albums of the 2010s (*cough* Teenage Dream *cough*). Guys, I promise you, if you are an avid pop music fan and enjoy artists like Robyn, Charli XCX, and Katy Perry - you will be obsessed with this album start to finish.
Every song on Technicolor is ICONIC (which happens to be the name of one of my favorite tracks on the album) and I’m not lying. Some of the other standouts on the album include Dancin’ Til We Die, Moonlight, and Sunshine.
Not only does Madison Rose have the catalog of music every pop music lover would die over, but she has the aesthetic of a truly pop girlie. She understands what us pop junkies want with our pop stars - looks upon looks. She gives us color, wigs, sparkles, bedazzles, lace, leather - sometimes all at once. Even when she stepped into the coffee shop, she was in a puffer jacket that was reminiscent of cotton candy at 10am. If you, like me, would die for pop music, you need to stop whatever you are doing and check out Madison Rose. She has all the makings of solidified popstar and is definitely one to watch out for.
